Japanese art can refer to poetic images such as one comparing waves on the sea to dancing rabbits. I lifted the rabbit imagery from a decorative casket created in the Momoyama era I found in a book. I swim in the Atlantic ocean several times every year and always seem to confront some kind of mortality there. If it's not being tossed around and under by waves it's the thought of getting eaten. Watching my daughters playing in the waves reminded me of the power and energy of the ocean, and the breaking waves themselves reminded me of animals chasing each other.
